Bluebonnet Circle Service Unit Happenings

Welcome back to Troop!

At the end of August, more than 200 girl scouts celebrated the beginning of the Girl Scout year at Playland Skate Center!

Service Projects

Over the summer, Brownie Troop 691 helped build and fill community gardens at their school.

Recruitment

Girl Scout rallys are under way, introducing new girls to the fun of begin a Girl Scout and sharing with their adults the rewards of volunteering. At the Caraway Elementary, Cadettes from Canyon Vista Middle School taught younger girls to make SWAPS and a new kindergarten troop was formed - it will be led by a former GSCTX Gold Award Girl Scout, Westwood High School, Class of 2005. At Summitt Elementary, Daisies, Brownies and Juniors led a promise and law craft and taught songs during their rally. We are off to a great year! Girls registered by September 30, 2024 will get a free Bluebonnet Circle Service Unit t-shirt!

Share Your Story

GSCTX is looking for help demonstrating why supporting Girl Scouts matters!

They are developing a new video to showcase the impact Girl Scouting has on our youth members and our broader community, and need 10 – 12 Junior to Ambassador-level Girl Scouts to explain on film what Girl Scouts means to you. The professional video crew will guide you through the process. No preparation or other experience is necessary. They want to capture real information from you—our real Girl Scouts. Your help with this project will support them in offering financial assistance and free programming to Girl Scouts who need it and will help bring Girl Scouting to more families.

They are also interested in filming Girl Scouts during meetings, service projects and other activities to show Girl Scouts in Action.

Interested? Learn more here or send a note to communications@gsctx.org

Plan Your Autumn Events

From service unit campouts and trainings to troop hosted events and service projects, check out the Events page for updated registration information. Keep an eye out for opportunities for girl scouts to showcase and view take action projects as well as bronze, silver and gold award projects. Don't forget the volunteering forum is a good place to promote service and volunteer opportunities that don't require registration. Interested in a preview of Fall events, check out last month's blog post. Have questions? look for contact info on the event, post a question in the member forum or email bluebonnetcirclegs@gmail.com.

Help Make Our Service Unit Run

Are you or another Girl Scout parent interested in helping make sure the service unit is supporting troops in all things Girl Scouts? There are many opportunities for the 2025-26 school year and now is the time to shadow current volunteers in the job. Reach out to the current team of Service Unit Directors or any service unit volunteer or leadership team member for more information.
