News and Updates: Bluebonnet Circle Service Unit
Friendship, Giving and Fun! October and November have been full of fun activities, with Girl Scouts building forever friendships, giving to their communities and having fun with their troops and families!
Girl Scouts in Action!
Juliet Gordon Low Day Celebration and SWAP Meet-Up. On November 2, Cadette Troop 41123 hosted a SWAP Meet-Up to celebrate the founder of Girl Scouts of the USA, Juliette Gordon Low. Juliette Gordon Low Day is celebrated each year to recognize her vision of building an organization dedicated to leadership, service, courage, outdoor skills and personal development for girls. During our celebration, which was open to the whole community, Girl Scouts made SWAPS (Special Watchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere) and shared them as tokens of friendship!
Pictures of the event, as well as the cute SWAPS, are provided below.
Camp Champions. 150 girls and 60 adults enjoyed a beautiful weekend at Camp Champions in the Texas Hill Country this past weekend. S'mores, a "haunted" hike and skits were all part of the fun. See below for pictures!
Roars and S'Mores! Brownie Troop 334 participated in the Roars and Snores program at the San Antonio Zoo. On Saturday night, the girls had a pizza party, followed by a live animal encounter (petting a snake!) and a nighttime flashlight tour of the zoo. The girls then enjoyed the unique experience of sleeping in the hippo enclosure, where they woke up to the sight of a hippo tail! Several girls said that this was their favorite Girl Scout activity so far.
Other Troop Activities in November.
Troop 41105 partnered with Austin DBT Associates to host a free multi-level Mental Wellness patch workshop.
Ambassador Troop 40 hosted a junior First Aid Badge & Medical Self-Advocacy Workshop.
Troops 41374 and 41125 jointly hosted a "spa" at Camp Champions to raise money to buy teddy bears and bring a little cheer to kids in emergency situations.
Note: We want to feature Girl Scout fun, community service, regular meetings, Rally Days, investitures, outings, big trips, etc. in this newsletter! Email us at bluebonnetcirlegs@gmail.com what your troop is up to (bonus for pictures!) and we'll feature them in the next newsletter. Your experience could be another troop leader or Girl Scout's inspiration!
Upcoming Activities
As the end of the year is approaching and we look forward to 2026, we have a number of events in December for our Scouts. Here is a list of those sponsored by the Bluebonnet Circle Service Unit. Come join in the fun!

World Thinking Day
Troop 41225 invites J/C/S/A troops to host a country table for our service unit’s celebration of World Thinking Day 2026 - The 100th anniversary of this day of international friendship! D/B troops SAVE THE DATE to attend!
This annual event will be held on Sunday, Feb. 22 at Caraway Elementary School from 2-4pm. It will be an international-night style! Older troops are invited to host a table representing a country of their choice. They can share food samples, crafts, facts, games, or cultural displays from that country. Note that the country chosen must have a WAGGGS presence, check here: https://www.wagggs.org/en/our-world/
Your troop table should have:
1. Trifold board with pictures and text
2. Basic country & culture info including WAGGGS presence
3. Stamp/sticker for participants’ passports
4. Optional snack & SWAPS to give out

Updates from November Service Unit Meeting
We were honored to have Paula Bookidis, CEO of Girl Scouts of Central Texas, come meet with us at our November Service Unit meeting. Here’s a little more info about Paula: gsctx.org/en/discover/our-council/council-leadership.html
Paula shared about upcoming Council events (has your older-girl troop considered the Sasquatch campout?), the upcoming Council-wide Songfest at the Texas Capitol this May and 100th Anniversary of WAGGGS among many others.
Things you probably haven't heard: GSCTX is working on improving the Gold Award process on their end while GSUSA has begun the process of looking at the requirements; the Summer Camp Guide is coming in December, and GSUSA is piloting different ways to engage girls to expand opportunities beyond the traditional, parent-led model.
Very exciting are plans being developed to activate the 12 acres that make up the Kodosky Service Center property. They are looking at opportunities for outdoor skill building and perhaps first-time campouts.
