Stuffies in the Park

On Sunday, April 28, Troop 41104, hosted stuffies in the park at the Balcones Woods clubhouse.  They had almost 45 daisies and brownies RSVP for the event.  Although the event happened during a thunderstorm, it was very successful. The girls had a tea party with their stuffed animals, participated in an activity about friendship, talked about what they like to have in a friend, and sang songs.

Helping Animal Friends

Giving back is a strong tenant of Girl Scouts, including the cookie program that encourages scouts to use some of their proceeds in service to their community.

Brownie Troop 691 chose to benefit the Austin Animal Center with their cookie proceeds this year. They delivered supplies and contributions to AAC. And then they made pet beds, cat toys, and warming sock beds for the animals to help make them more comfortable while they wait for their forever homes.

The scouts toured the facility and incorporated elements of the Brownie pet badge by helping feed the cats and kittens.

Volunteer Appreciation Month!

Girl Scouts is girl-led, but it wouldn't work without the many adult volunteers who serve as troop leaders, higher award mentors, product coordinators, service unit volunteers and so many more rolls. Here is one idea for scouts to show their appreciation for the volunteers in their troop before heading off on summer adventures.

Keep those submissions coming! Send a few pictures and a brief activity description to share what your troop is doing. Email to sandy.hentges@gmail.com Subject "BBCSU Blog post".
